Vršecký makes winning debut in ESET GT

David Vršecký’s debut in the ESET GT series had the best possible ending. The Buggyra Zero Mileage Racing driver dominated Saturday’s race at Slovakia Ring, and he brought his Mercedes-AMG GT3 car across the finish line in 1st place. He was joined on the GT podium by a GTC category winner Kurt Wagner and Petr Kačírek in 3rd place. Ferenc Ficza took a victory in a GT4 category and Miro Konôpka in D5 category.

Up to now, David Vršecký had his most successful career moments in truck racing as a two-time European champion. However, this weekend at Slovakia Ring, he showed that he is also pretty good in GT cars.

Vršecký’s debut in the ESET Cup started well on Friday already, when he took pole position in GT. The Buggyra Zero Mileage Racing driver then managed to dominate the race and he took an overall GT victory in the ESET Cup race and a win in the GT3 category as well.

“I’m absolutely delighted. I’ve only ever raced here with a truck and it’s my first time here with a GT car. Huge thanks to the team, the mechanics and Tomáš (Enge), who is my reference point. I had a couple of tough moments in the race, for example, when I got on the grass with two wheels and I was worried that it might end there. Luckily, we’ve managed everything well,” said Vršecký in the end.

Kurt Wagner took the 2nd place finish among GT, but the German also won in a GTC category. That meant a successful return for Mičánek Motorsport powered by Buggyra team to the ESET Cup series.

Petr Kačírek then finished in 3rd place in GT. While the Duck Racing driver started from 2nd position, he dropped behind Wagner right at the start of the race and then he was not able to catch him again.

Gregor Zsigo from Trevor Racing finished 4th in GT, but he was classified 3rd in a GT3 category. In the GTC category, Wagner was joined on the podium by Boleslaw Waszek.

And finally, the GT4 category offered another round of battles between Sergej Pavlovec and Ferenc Ficza. Each driver took one victory at Grobnik. At Slovakia Ring, it started better for Pavlovec, who took pole position. However, in the race, Ficza had a better pace and he won his 2nd race of the season. The RTR Projects driver had to settle for only 2nd position, ahead of Piotr Wira.

In D5, Miro Konôpka made the local fans happy, because he won. Petr Lisa was second and the son of Miro Konôpka Maťo finished on the third place.
