Tobias Poschik won the second race of the Clio Cup

Tomáš Pekař made a perfect start in the second Clio Cup race at the Tor Poznań and took the lead. However, he was stopped near the end of the race by technical problems, and the winner was Tobias Poschik, the leader of the Clio Cup standings.

The first five drivers lined up on the grid in the reverse order of Saturday’s race. That’s why Henrik Seibel, the only driver with the fifth-generation Clio, started from the front row. Szabolcs Lantos started by his side, Miha Primožič and Tobias Poschik were in the second row. The winner of yesterday’s race, Tomáš Pekař, started from fifth place alongside Jiří Zbožínek. Richard Meixner was missing after yesterday’s accident with his teammate Poschik.

Pekař made a fantastic start and took the lead from fifth place at the end of the first turn. Poschik also moved forward, but got stuck for lap and half behind his teammate Seibel, whom he finally passed in sector combining the go-kart track. Poschik moved to second place behind Pekař.

The fifth generation Clio has less power than the fourth generation Clio. Therefore a train of drivers formed behind Seibel, trying to find a way for overtaking. Primožič managed to overtake Seibel in the fourth lap and a few turns later Lantos was just as successful. After him, Jiří Zbožínek began to attack Seibel and eventually he also got in front of his orange Clio.

In the meantime, the situation in the lead of the race began to change. Pekař was driving very slowly and Poschik was approaching him. Shortly before the finish, Poschik took the lead and Pekař drove into the pits to change the tire, while the mechanics talked about problems with the fuel.

Poschik won the second race in Poznań, followed by Primožič, Lantos and Zbožínek. Henrik Seibel won the Clio V classification and Pekař finished sixth overall.
