Small Sprint Race Won by Newcomer Michal Makeš

The Saturday programme of the opening racing weekend at Hungaroring was started by the first “small” sprint race.

The race was dominated by the newcomer to the Mičánek Motorsport team Michal Makeš with his Renault Clio. Makeš thus confirmed today his yesterday´s speed from the time practice and thus deserved his maximum score gain.

The progress of the race was marked by a long accompaniment by the safety car, required in the third lap by the accident of Dušan Kouřil and Enrico Fae.
“I managed the start excellently and kept my rank even after the safety car episode. After restart I only drove defensively to keep behind me Mathias, who drive stuck to my boot for the whole rest of the race. It was tight but finally I managed and so I am absolutely satisfied,“ were the words of the race winner Michal Makeš after return to parc fermé.

Remember that today was Makeš´s first performance at the big circuit. His racing pilot´s CV including two go-cart seasons has thus been extended by his first victory at a big racing circuit.

A loss of 0.44s marked the arrival in the finish of last year´s winner of the Twingo Cup, Italian pilot Mathias Lodi (Lema Racing), and the third rank points were added to the score of another newcomer, Jáchym Galáš of GT2 Motorsport.

Further ranking: Zoran Poglajen, László Laczko, Miha Primožič.

The test of older third-generation Clio makes was won by the Polish pilot Sebastian Kolakowski before Martin Fischer and his father Alfred.
The start of the second weekend race is scheduled for Sunday 2:05 pm.
