The event at Poznań closed the first half of this year’s ESET Cup. The fourth event at Grobnik in penultimate weekend in July is going to open the second half of the season, so how´s the situation in the championship’s standings?
Libor Milota is the best driver in the GT3 category so far. Although he has won one race this year, he regularly finishes in the TOP3 and collects important points for the championship. The biggest opponent for his Mercedes AMG GT3 is undoubtedly the BMW M4 GT3 with Gregor Zsigo behind the wheel. Although Zsigo has not won this year, he is regular podium visitor and any Milota´s issues on the track can be used by Zsigo to his advantage. However, Milota and Zsigo need to be aware of fast Marcin Jedlinski. Former ESET Cup champion missed several races, for example whole weekend at Red Bull Ring due to the illness, but when he gets into his Audi, he is strong favourite for every win.
The situation in standings is completely opposite in GTC category. Dennis Waszek dominates the class with his Lamborghini Super Tropheo and he score a win in every race, where he started. List of his wins could have been longer at Poznań, but he crashed with the car too heavy and mechanics were without the chance to prepare the Lamborghini for racing.
Waszek doesn’t just race Lamborghini. He starts also in the endurance with a BMW M4 GT3, which he shares with Gregor Zsigo. Streak of the second places in all the endurance races so far keeps them in the lead of the current standings.
An interesting situation is in the Clio Cup. Tobias Poschik holds a 33-point lead over Miha Primožič and another five points behind is Szabolcs Lantos. However, 25 points for a win means that any DNF by Poschik can still shake up the standings.
Twingo Cup is dominated by just two men. Matej Ivanuša won both races at the Hungaroring, Nik Štefančič remained unbeaten at the Red Bull Ring. In Poznań, the Twingo Cup was absent, but in Grobnik, it´ll return to the scene and you can count on a really big starting field.
Vojtěch Birgus and Tommaso Lovati share the first place in the Formula Trophy. Both Formula 4 drivers recorded the same results at Red Bull Ring, victory and second place, so they also have the same number of points.
