The battle for 2nd place is still wide open

The battle for 2nd place is still wide open

As the Clio Cup category season is coming to an end at Hungaroring, there are still 12 drivers fighting for the 2nd place in the championship.

We already know the name of this year’s Clio Cup champion. The Carpek Racing driver Tomáš Pekař has been unstoppable so far this season, winning 6 out of 6 races. It comes as no surprise that he has clinched the championship title during the last round at Brno already.

But the battle is not over yet, as the final round of the 2020 season at Hungaroring is going to decide who will take the 2nd place in the championship standings. And there are still 12 drivers who are in the contention. The final round of the season is scheduled for October 24 and 25.

Adam Rzepecki currently holds the 2nd place in the standings. While the Polish driver missed the opening race weekend of the season at Grobnik, he was always on the podium in all remaining races. He took the 2nd position in first races at Brno and Slovakia Ring and 3rd places in both events on Sunday. He now has  66 points in total.

However, he is closely followed by his brother and Basenhurt teammate Tomasz Rzepecki, with 2 podiums and 57 points in total. But there is also Mark Mramor (56 points), who is also the best junior driver of the season, and Pawel Wysmyk (53 points).

Apart from them, there are also others with at least a mathematical chance to take that 2nd place in the championship. Drivers like Levente Losonczy (36 points), Miha Primožič (30 points), Jonas Karklys (25 points), Andrea Tronconi (24 points), Zoran Poglajen (23 points), Aliyyah Koloc (20 points), Sandi Jeram (18) and Thomas Fischer (16 points).
