Jedlinski wins again, race ends after the safety car

Shortly after the noon the second scheduled race of ESET Sprint was started from the first row in the starting grid by Marcin Jedlinski and Jakub Knoll. In the wrestle in the first curve the second rank after Jedlinsky was grasped by Richard Chlad Jr., the two of them forming together the leading tandem of the Audi make.

Jedlinski again controlled the lead, followed by Chlad Jr. in a short distance after him. The starting field behind them struggled hard for every rank. After two laps a group of four pilots formed after the leaders including Miro Konopka, Jakub Knoll, Dennis Waszek and Josef Záruba in this order of ranks. All of them struggled hard, looking for a slot to squeeze forward in a circuit where it is hard to overtake. The first success was celebrated by Záruba, who managed to overtake Waszek and advance forward to the fifth overall rank. At the end of the final straight he prepared an attack of Knoll, but the wrestle in the first curve, joined by a pilot one lap behind, eventually offered a chance to Waszek who made use of it and returned to the fifth rank.

In the immediately following lap Waszek overtook the white BMW of Jakub Knoll. The latter soon took his rank back and even attacked the leader of this group – Miro Konopka. However, their duel in front of the tribune over the pits ended with an accident of the two of them. The sharp duel between Konopka and Knoll on the sunburnt Grobniku circuit ended up with a blow which left both of them standing on the grass and required assistance of the safety car, leading the rest of the starting field to the finish safely. Miro Konopka summarised the whole situation into two words: “a racing incident“.

Thus the final duel did not take place in the end. Marcin Jedlinski comfortably reached the finish in the lead, followed by the second-ranking Richard Chlad Jr. and the third-ranking Dennis Waszek, the simultaneous winner of the GTC category.

“A very thrilling duel this was. We kept overtaking each other, and the slowed pilot behind us. I enjoyed the race very much and am pleased with the GTC victory. Although the accident of Knoll and Konopka happened in front of me, I virtually saw nothing,“ said Dennis Waszek in the finish.

The overall fourth-ranking Josef Záruba ranked second in the GTC competition and the top five was joined further by Matěj Konopka, climbing the cup car competition podium together with Waszek and Záruba.

The GT3 Trophy category was won by Lubomír Jakubík in his BMW Alpina B6, followed by his team mate of Racing Trevor, Gregor Zsigo in BMW M4 GT3.

At the beginning of the race a nice duel of the TCR category was enacted by Milovan Vesnic and Václav Nimč. The Serbian pilot of Seat Cupra however only needed a couple of laps to leave his Czech follower in his Audi RS3 far behind to win the cup for the winner after yesterday´s trouble. Nimč, after his Saturday victory, received the cup for the second rank on Sunday. The two of them were joined on the podium by the Austrian pilot Tessitore with Opel Astra.
