ESET MMSR teams on the podium in GT Open

Last weekend saw another round of international GT Open championship for GT3 cars, this time at Spa-Francorchamps at Belgium. Two well-known teams from ESET MMSR, Šenkýř Motorsport and ARC Bratislava, used the opportunity to join the grid.

While ARC Bratislava with Miro Konopka and Konstantin Calko can be seen in GT Open quite often, it was a 2018 premiere for Šenkýř Motorsport. But they did not underestimate it and arrived at Spa with an experienced duo – their own driver Richard Gonda and Joel Eriksson, who joined from BMW’s DTM team.

Gonda and Eriksson showed a great pace since the beginning in their BMW M6 GT3 and it was clear they are going to fight for the top places. Gonda set the third fastest time in qualifying and then in the race, both drivers managed to finish fourth. Czech-Swedish duo carried their speed to Sunday as well. Eriksson put the car into the first row, though then he had a mediocre start and dropped to seventh. Luckily for them, Gonda did not hesitate and in a fantastic finish and a great battle with a factory BMW, he managed to grab the second place.

ARC Bratislava team raced in the AM category with their yellow Lamborghini Huracan. While in the first race Konopka and Calko finished only fourth, it was a different story in the second race and a third-place finish meant they stood on a podium.
