Pekař finished his season on the top step of the podium

Tomáš Pekař won the final race of the Renault Clio Cup season at Hungaroring. He crossed the finish line in first place ahead of Adam Rzepecki and Jonas Karklys.

On Friday, Tomáš Pekař lost his ‘unbeatable‘ status in this year’s Renault Clio Cup season. Already a crowned champion had to settle for 3rd place, after starting only 6th, as Pawel Wysmyk celebrated his first victory of the season at Hungaroring. Pekař faced another challenging day on Sunday, as drivers lined up on the grid in order based on their 2nd fastest lap times from qualifying. The Carpek Racing driver had to start from 6th position again.

However, Pekař had a much better day today. He was able to take the lead right at the beginning and from that point, he was unstoppable. When he crossed the finish line, he could celebrate another victory and an incredible season overall, winning 7 out of 8 races this year.

Adam Rzepecki finished 2nd and the Basenhurt driver took the same place in the championship standings, even though he did not win a single race. However, he showed a strong consistency, and he took a podium in every single race, apart from Grobnik, where he did not race.

Jonas Karklys started from pole position, just like on Friday. Yet, not even this time he could not turn the best starting position into a victory. However, the Judesy Racing team driver at least made it to the podium as he finished in 3rd place.

Friday’s winner Pawel Wysmyk did not finish on the podium this time. The BM Racing team driver was classified in 4th place, just two seconds behind Karklys. The Pole finished 3rd in the championship.
