Michal Makeš can’t wait for the upcoming races, he sees Grobnik as an exciting circuit

Michal Makeš is the Clio Cup championship leader and he holds the 2nd place in the ESET Junior Cup. His only goal for the upcoming ESET V4 Cup event at Grobnik is to continue in winning. He has won 4 out of 4 races so far.

It’s 4 wins out of 4 races for you so far this season. I guess you’re pretty happy with the season so far?
Absolutely, the season has been great so far. In every single race, I’ve managed to get the maximum out of the car, avoid any mistakes and drive consistently. I hope that’s going to continue.

Your this year’s opponent is your teammate Petr Majer from Mičánek Motorsport. How is this rivalry going?
We‘ve known each other since the last year and as we’re in the same team, I see Petr more like my teammate. Our battles have been always hard, but fair and I believe it’s going to continue that way.

You know Grobnik from last season. Do you think it has any unique characteristics like no other circuit on the calendar?
Grobnik is the tightest track on the calendar with a limited amount of run-off areas. Many corners are chained together and one mistake can be a huge loss. It’s a very fun and exciting circuit.

What do you consider as your biggest challenge at Grobnik? What about high air temperatures when you are racing? How bad is it in the car? And what about the track temperatures and tyres?
My biggest challenge will be to get back into rhythm as I haven’t been in the car since Red Bull Ring. As with the temperature in the car, it’s not a big deal for me. It could get over 50°C, but I‘ve been working on my physical condition a lot since the last year, so the high temperatures won’t affect me. But it affects the grip. Tyres easily overheat and then lose all the grip. It’s very important to go easy on them, so they can deliver throughout the whole race.

What about your plans at Grobnik? Only to race or are you going to cool down a bit in the nearby Adriatic Sea?
The track is just a few kilometres away from the sea and it would be a shame to not use that opportunity after spending a long day behind the wheel!
