Repeated Formula Race Won by Andrea Cola

Unusually busy was the day at Hungaroring for the pilots of the formula monoposts.

The race originally scheduled for Saturday noon was cancelled after an accident of six formulas at the end of the first lap and only repeated at the end of the day.

The repeated race starting grid was populated by 25 monoposts, after the 25-minute struggle finally headed by the Italian pilot Andrea Cola with formula Dallara 312 Mercedes (Monolite Racing). The second rank with a six-second loss after the winner belonged to another Italian, Paolo Brajnik of PB212 team. The triumph of Italian pilots was accomplished by Ricardo Perego, whose Dalara F308 won him third rank score points.

Category F3 Trophy was dominated by last-year´s champion Bartholomew Mirecky with his two-litre Renault. The second rank belonged to Vladimír Netušil of Effective Racing (F.R. 2.0). A big struggle for the third rank was then seen between Manfred Lang (Dallara 305 Opel) and Antonín Sus (Fras Motorsport). The winner of the duel finally was the pilot of the Austrian LS Performance team.

“What shall I say? It was a good piece of bad luck. After entry to the final straight the car in front of me began to brake suddenly and crossed my trail. I tried to prevent the clash as best as I could but it was too late already. My car is largely damaged and so my weekend in Hungary has ended prematurely for me, unfortunately,” said Tomáš Chabr of Chomutov, one of the six victims of the inappropriate signalling by the circuit marshals, after the race.
