Filip Sandström will make his debut in our championship this year. The Swedish driver will race in Clio Cup category for last year´s champions from Carpek Racing.
Carpek Racing had very successful last season in Clio Cup category. Its driver and team boss at the same time Tomáš Pekař achieve seven victories from eight races and became the champion. And now it is clear that Carpek Racing will participate in Clio Cup category also this year. It was confirmed that at least Filip Sandström will race for this team. The Swede will complete his premiere season in our championship. But he hasn´t got modest ambitions.
„I am looking forward to go racing soon again after the winter break. My ambitions is to be more towards the front of the starting field rather than the back. I am aiming for a good consistent season with hopefully some podiums and perhaps my first race win. Our main goal is to finish in top three of the championship this year,“ said Sandström.
Sandström took part in Clio Cup Central Europe last year. He finished third in the overall standings and he became the junior champion there at the same time. He was successful also in Renault Junior Cup Sweden with Renault Clio car. In 2015, he became the vice-champion of this series. In 2016, he took the championship title there. But among other things, he raced also in Thunder Cars Sweden championship or in Danish Thundersport Championship with Ford Mustang and Chevrolet Camaro cars in the past.
