Josef Záruba, from the Mičánek Motorsport team, sailed through this season of the ESET MMSR GTC class. Besides this, he stood out in the paddocks in his own special way. And he did it like J. A. Comenius. By play.
After a year's break you got back behind the wheel and simply took over the GTC class. How would you describe the 2017 season?
Of course, after a long pause it's always difficult to get back up to speed, but I think I did a pretty good job. In particular I'd like to thank the Mičánek Motorsport team that they put their trust in me, and the car was always 100% ready.
Earlier you raced in open-wheel cars, how quickly did you get used to a Lamborghini? Did you have some formula habits that you needed to change?
After all, it is easier to change formulas for cars than the other way round, as in the open-wheel racing everything is faster and harder. Because of the higher weight and all-wheel drive I had to get used to the lambo, but it was no big deal.
Which of the weekends is fixed in your mind as positive?
There was something in each of them. When not on the track, then at least in the paddock.
And what was the worst driving experience?
Most of the morning trainings.
Which circuit on the calendar suited you most? And vice versa, which the least?
Hungaroring and Slovakiaring. In Hungary our car was fast enough in comparison with competitors in the GT3. On the other hand, in Slovakia we didn't have enough speed compared to other cars. But it was a pleasure to drive here with the Lamborghini.
Do you have any plans for the next season?
God only knows.
