Formula 3 Dominated by Tom Beckhäuser

Tom Beckhäuser started the race in F3 class from the first starting position in front of Andrea Cola and Robert Hefler, one of the quickest pilots of the Formula Renault category. When the red lights went off the fourteen pilots started the race in the thirty-degree-Centigrade heat, heading towards the adventures of the quick and zig-zag shaped Grobnik circuit.

Beckhäuser held the leading rank in front of Cola and the pair was followed by Hefler in a distance. The leading ranks remained unchanged, Beckhäuser building an increasing advantage over Cola who in turn built an advantage over his chasers. The field battle was thus only refreshed by the Formula Nestor and silver fox Franz Woss of Austria. Although grey-haired already, he can still achieve decent performance in the confined cockpit of his monopost. Woss started from the seventh starting position and worked his way to the final fifth rank in the course of the twenty-five-minute sprint race, wining him the overall third rank in the F3 category. Thus the Austrian pilot accompanied to the podium the second-ranking Cola and the victorious Beckhäuser.

Robert Hefler won the Formula Renault category in the start-finish manner. The second-ranking Roland Stern had to be satisfied with the silver and the third rank belonged to Nicolas Szabo. Thus the podium was all occupied by Hungarian pilots. The E2-2000 class was won by Paolo Brajnik.
