There are five nominees from the ESET V4 Cup series in this year’s Zlatý volant award. Drivers Tom Beckhäuser, Jáchym Galáš, Dušan Kouřil Jr., Tomáš Pekař and Václav Šafář are in contention for the most prestigious Czech racing award.
This week, the official poll for the 43rd Zlatý volant event has begun. The ESET V4 Cup has its drivers among the nominees for the annual award. Five drivers from the series have made it to the Circuit Racing category.
The biggest recognition goes to the TCR category, as two drivers have made it to the shortlist. This year‘s championship runner-up Jáchym Galáš and also Dušan Kouřil jr., who finished 3rd in the overall standings and also represented the Czech Republic in the first-ever FIA Motorsport Games competition in Vallelunga, Italy.
Both drivers will be joined by Tomáš Pekař. The Czech racing driver from Mělník raced only at Red Bull Ring in this season, yet he managed to impress as he took a victory in the 2nd race of the weekend. He also showed his speed in the Central European Renault Clio Cup championship, where he won his 2nd championship title.
Two other drivers have been nominated from the single-seaters category. This year’s F3 category champion Tom Beckhäuser, who apart from the ESET V4 Cup also dominated in the FIA CEZ championship. Then he also took the 3rd place in the Austrian Drexler Formel Cup championship and gained more experience throughout the F3 scene after participating in the Asian F3 and Formula Regional European Championship.
The last driver is Václav Šafář, who raced in F4 category but appeared only at one event at Hungaroring. However, he also participated in the FIA Motorsport Games event.
Final results will be announced on a big Prize Giving Gala evening on February 6, 2020. You can vote for your favourite driver on this website.
