This year’s Renault Twingo Cup driver Gašper Dernovšek will participate in the Drivers Recruitment Program for 2020 NASCAR Whelen Euro Series. The test days take place at Fontenay Le Comte in France.
Gašper Dernovšek spent his 2019 season as a regular Renault Twingo Cup driver in the ESET V4 Cup series. The Slovenian driver impressed, he made three times on the podium and finished 4th in the overall standings.
And now it seems that ESET V4 Cup is opening doors for him in the world of international motorsport. Dernovšek will be going to Fontenay Le Comte in France to join the Drivers Recruitment Program for NASCAR Whelen Euro Series 2020, that takes place on December 12 and 13. There, he needs to convince the organisers to gain financial support for the next season.
„I‘ll try to get a seat. I’ve been following this series for a few seasons now and I think it’s a great way how to achieve a professional level. I saw some races in person and these cars are really fast. And they have the same chassis, so it is very close racing,” says excited Gašper ahead of a new experience.
In case that Dernovšek is successful and manages to get a seat, he would not face some unknown drivers. On the contrary, this championship is even excited for former F1 drivers. In 2019, the most prestigious motorsport category was represented by Michael Bleekemolen, Alex Caffi and even a 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve.
