Adam Rzepecki wants to go higher next year

Adam Rzepecki intends to race with more powerful cars in 2021 season. He revealed that and much more in our interview.

Adam, you took the title of vice-champion in this season of Renault Clio Cup category. How are you happy with the season?

I´m very happy to achieve the title of Renault Clio Cup vice-champion. I´m satisfied with the fact that everybody in the cup had the same cars, tires and so on and everyone had the same chances to achieve what I achieved. It´s a shame the season didn´t go well due to coronavirus pandemic, but I´m still happy with the season´s results.

What moment from 2020 season will you remember as the best?

I will remember the most the races at Hungaroring, because I didn´t know if I will keep the second position in the championship until the very end. It was really stressful, especially the second race of the weekend.

And what moment will you remember as the worst?

The worst thing was when I didn´t get pole position in any qualifying and didn´t win any race. But I had good fights and moments and I´m happy about that more than if I won races.

It wasn´t only you, who raced for your family team Basenhurt this season in Renault Clio Cup. Your brother Tomasz Rzepecki was your teammate. How does it feel when you race against your brother? When do you have a battle on the track with him, do you approach your brother differently than other opponents?

There are no friends or brothers on the track. When I´m on the track, it doesn´t matter who I´m racing with. Everyone is an opponent for me, not a brother or anyone else. But we have strategy of the first driver and the second driver sometimes. If the second driver is slower than the first driver, he has to let him go. We did it at Slovakia Ring and it worked great. We scored double podium (on Sunday – editorial note).

You was defeated only by the champion Tomáš Pekař in overall standings this year. He dominated during the season and won seven from eight races. How do you evaluate him as an opponent and as a human?

Tomáš is very good driver. I know him for many years and he just getting better in racing. He impresses me with the way how he races. When I have chance to watch his races, I´m watching it with the excitement. There are two Tomáš´s – one on the track and second off the track. On the track, he is determined and confident. Outside the track, he is really nice and funny guy.

What is the main reason of his this year´s dominance according to you? What did make that difference between him and his rivals?

He didn´t do any mistakes when he raced. Repetition, calmness, determination and concentration are the main things that distinguishes the master from others. Tomáš has a lot of experience and this makes him the best.

What´s your plans for 2021 season?

Unfortunately, I won´t have a chance to take the championship title in Renault Clio Cup. My plans are to go higher and race with more powerful car in Polish Championship and maybe stay also in ESET Cup. But we will see what 2021 will bring to us. I would love 2021 to be much better than 2020.
